How to prevent getting a virus and what to do if you get one.
Introduction
Viruses are a cause of much confusion and a target of considerable misinformation even from some virus experts. Let's define what we mean by virus:
"A virus is a program that reproduces its own code by attaching itself to other executable files in such a way that the virus code is executed when the infected executable file is executed."
Computer Direct advises that all computers include antivirus protection software and that the associated virus definitions should always be kept up to date. Most computer systems come pre-bundled with either Trend Micro's PC Cillin or Symantec Norton Antivirus software. However, the prebundled software normally only includes a time limited update service. Make sure you keep your virus definition update subscription current so you are able to continue updating your antivirus software, otherwise you may be infected with a newer strain of virus.
